At first glance it appears that the Stoneybrook at Venice Community Association Inc. has filed a lawsuit against itself. In a way, it has.

Fed up with owners who rented out their units and stopped paying their dues, those who have been fulfilling their obligations appealed to the 12th Judicial Circuit Court for an emergency petition for appointment of receiver, a fancy way to say they are asking for a judge to let them take the rental money and apply it to back dues. So the lawsuit's "petitioner" is the Stoneybrook at Venice Community Association Inc. - and so is its "respondent."
