New park in Venice begins to take shape.

Now that workers have cleared a thicket of trees around the city's former sewer plant, beachgoers have a clear view of the evolving Tramonto Vista Park.

The $2.5 million park next to the Paw Park on South Harbor Drive is on target for a May 1 completion date, said city spokeswoman Pam Johnson. Money from a 2003 bond issue will be used for construction.

"It's exciting," Johnson said. "It's going to be a great asset to the community."

The trail around the retention pond is taking shape as workers install pipes and infrastructure for new bathrooms, which will be shared by visitors at the Paw Park. Landscapers are planting …
