KOLKATA, 28 NOV: A CPI-M leader was shot dead by Maoists at Salboni in Midnapore West even as three others were arrested this morning in connection with the murder of a Trinamul Congress worker at Khanakul in Hooghly on Thursday.
An officer of Midnapore (West) district police said, Karuna Sindhu Mahato (42), pradhan of the CPI-M-controlled Salboni panchayat, was picked up from his house at Jitusole village last night. His body was found on State Highway-9, near Kalaboni jungle this morning. Some Maoist posters near his body claimed Mahato was a spy of the police. No one has been arrested in this connection.
