The Kawasaki Ninja 250 R will certainly hasten the entry of more heavy duty bikes, something that was seen in plenty during the British Raj. Even traffic sergeants in Calcutta rode Harley Davidson motorcycles fitted with sidecars. Then there was the famous bodybuilder Monotosh Roy who had a huge Matchless bike. In the early 1970s Biswanath Ghoshs Honda 650cc bike with its water-cool engine was an attraction in the Esplanade area of Calcutta. Ghosh was a brilliant biker and I can say this with conviction because as a kid I had the good fortune to go on a ride with him.
