Section: Stocks - The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has revised some regulations with regards to property funds (PF). The major changes are: 1) foreign limit; 2) allowing dividend payment from retained earnings; 3) investment in uncompleted assets. The changes took effect as of November 16, 2009.

Foreign limit - The foreign limit for a PF investing in freehold assets is 49% with no limit for a leasehold PF. Freehold funds must have books closed by Jan 1, 10. If a foreign holder is shown to be above the limit, the fund is not allowed to invest in additional land and/or to increase investment in existing residential condos.
