Section: Government & Politics - The organizer of the chambers of commerce meeting in Chiang Mai this weekend affirms the event will proceed as scheduled despite the planned protests by the red-shirt group.

Vice chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, or TCC, Pongsak Assakul, said the TCC's annual meeting this weekend in Chiang Mai will be held as scheduled.

He added that none of TCC members across the country have canceled their participation.

However, Pongsak stressed that security measures will be stepped up to ensure safety to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, who will preside over the closing ceremony on Sunday.
