Orkney have been named Scotland's rugby club of the month after winning three times in October to stay at the top of Caledonia League Division 1.

The SRU and league sponsor Scottish Hydro awarded the island club the title and GBP1,000 in prizemoney after the Kirkwall-based side maintained its excellent start to season.

Orkney have won all 10 of their league games this term -- despite the long distances they have to travel to fulfil away fixtures.

Youth has been the key factor to the club's success, according to captain John Dearness.
