Two astronauts left the International Space Station or ISS on Thursday for the first of three spacewalks to provide spare parts to orbiting outpost.

Mike Foreman and Bobby Satcher began their mission for a six hour mission to install a spare antenna and perform routine maintenance.

The Atlantis crew planned to conduct the spacewalks to outfit the station with additional communications antennas, install science experiments and take care of some maintenance chores on the station's robotic arm.
