Section: Government & Politics - The former chairman of Thailand's Council for National Security (CNS) Gen Sondhi Boonyaratkalin on Wednesday accepted the leadership of the Matubhum Party, after playing a crucial role in the coup d'etat which toppled the Thaksin Shinawatra administration in September 2006.

Gen Sonthi Boonyaratkalin gave as his reason for accepting the new post is that the Matubhum Party has an impartial policy and wishes to create good and strong politics and Thai society.
