from BERNAMA, The Malaysian National News Agency KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 (Bernama) --SME Corp Malaysia is optimistic of clearing a backlog of about 5,000 applications for grants by the end of this month, its chief executive officer, Datuk Hafsah Hashim said.

She said a sharp rise in term of applications was due to an overwhelming response from small and medium entrepreneurs, reeling from the global economic slowdown.

This in turn, she added, caused the backlog.

From January 2006 to December 2008, on an average the corporation received about 363 applications a month, she told reporters after the announcement of the top 10 winners of 2009 Enterprise 50 (E50) …
