Rookie QB will make debut as starter against Packers

It's going to be interesting to watch Sunday how Josh Freeman's play reflects his level of preparation in his first NFL start against the Green Bay Packers and one of the league's top sets of cornerbacks.

"I just want to go out there and just let it rip," Freeman said Wednesday.

The roundabout route the Buccaneers took to elevating the rookie quarterback into a starting role in the eighth game of the season leaves the 21-year-old first-round draft choice less prepared than he might think.

"I'm going to be as well prepared as I can from an X's and O's standpoint and being mentally prepared," Freeman said.
