Move to California will cut 400 local jobs

GE Capital Mortgage Services is shutting down its Houston office, eliminating 400 local jobs in the process.

The company will consolidate its Houston office into the San Bernardino, Calif., location. Most of the local employees have been offered jobs at the West Coast office, but it's uncertain how many will make the move.

Based in Cherry Hill, N.J., GE Capital Mortgage Services has operated an office at 2000 West Loop South since 1991. The closure does not affect GE Capital Mortgage Insurance, which will remain in Houston.
