Serbia's external debt was never higher. Though one can hardly compare values today with the past as leading currencies depreciated in the meantime, but still the nominal value of our debt -- 21.75 billion euros on 31 August 2009 -- has never been this high. And never was the larger portion of the debt incurred by private persons and the lesser by the government, at least not in the recent past. It was the reverse, whereas today private debt stands at 14.85 billion euros and government liabilities at only 6.9 billion euros. …
