United Nations/Thailand: UN reports says Thai exports will recover slowly.

Section: Economy - Exports, one of the key engines of Thailand's economic growth, are unlikely to fully recover to pre-crisis levels for years, according to a new report by the United Nations, the Bangkok Post reports.

"Thailand will begin to see a solid recovery in 2010 by expanding exports by 6.07%, following the regional trend," UN economists wrote in the "Asia-Pacific Trade & Investment Report 2009: Trade-led Recovery and Beyond".

The full recovery in exports from Thailand would not be reached soon as the country's exports relied heavily on major world markets that had borne the brunt of the economic crisis, said the report's author, Noeleen Heyzer, the UN …
