Another 188 measles infections have been reported in Gauteng, bringing the total in the province 1,222 cases, the health and social development department said on Thursday.

Gauteng accounts for 90 per cent of the 1,355 confirmed measles cases reported throughout the country, and one of the four deaths.

MEC [Member of the Executive Committee] Qedani Mahlangu said the department had extended the vaccination period by another week in an effort to reach the three million people target it had set for the end of October.
