European unions launch attack on BBC over 'unfair advantage'.

European print and journalism unions have criticised the BBC for what they see as an unfair competitive advantage that the broadcaster has over local newspapers.

At a conference in London last week (19-21 October) organised by Unigraphical, the global union for the printing industry, union members discussed the future of newspaper printing in the UK.

At the event, print unions from across the EU, together with the European Federation of Journalists, set out a declaration on how the newspaper sector could be better served. It is the first time that printers and journalists have come together to make such a statement.
