United States: US donates US$ 8.4-M worth of rice, milk for typhoon victims.

Section: General News - Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap on Monday thanked the United States government for donating 7,000 metric tons (MT) rice and another 680 MT of non-fat dried milk totalling US$ 8.4 million for the victims of tropical storm 'Ondoy' and typhoon 'Pepeng' that have caused damage of over P18 billion to Philippine agriculture and fisheries.

US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack confirmed the donation in a press conference at the sidelines of the RP-US trade and investment forum held at the Shangrila Hotel in Makati City.
