MONTREAL -- More than 100 visual effects artists who did work for Meteor Studios, a Montreal-based effects house that went bankrupt in late 2007, have reached an agreement with the owners to get some of the pay owed them. Meteor was owned jointly by Evergreen Digital and Discovery Trademark Holding Co.

The 130 artists will receive C$590,000 ($544,000), or 70% of the money they say they were owed. Meteor closed down shortly after completing work on Montreal-shot "Journey to the Center of the Earth" in 2007, and the artists were missing pay for their work on that pic.
