Wealthy young families 'getting away' to rural bedroom burg
FAIRVIEW - Developers in Fairview can't build lots fast enough to satisfy the desire of affluent young professionals who want to get away from densely populated Dallas and Plano.
The Collin County town of 11 square miles, located south of McKinney and north of Allen, is unknown to many in the Metroplex.
But Paul Martin, director of sales and marketing for the Tower Group Inc. in Dallas, weeds through about 16 calls a week from wealthy families interested in the company's two residential subdivisions, where 1-acre lots start at $89,900.
The Tower Group opened Rivers Edge, which has 10 lots, in 1997, and Bridlegate, which has 40 lots, this year. The company plans to open a third development of about 40 lots, The Lakes, in 1999.
