Demand is close to supply in metro area, study notes

New apartment construction in the city of Atlanta could actually surpass Gwinnett County and take the lead in the metro area in the next two years.

Of the 13,000 apartment units slated to come on line each year for the next two to three years, the city of Atlanta could be in a position to capture the lion's share by 2000, according to a regional apartment study conducted by Databank Inc.

That's predicated, however, on capital availability and whether the projects now in the pipeline will be financed.
