Oct. 16--On Oct. 2, Larry Lind was treated to what he called one of the most miserable nights he's ever spent working the chains in Maple. Throughout the football game, the chain gang worked under a steady drizzle with a howling wind and temperatures just above freezing.
Lind, a veteran of many harsh nights on the sidelines, remained comfortable in warm, waterproof garb. His years of experience have taught him to come prepared. "I've probably been doing this for close to 30 years now," he said. Lind, who will be 73 in January, is in charge of the down marker at Northwestern High School home football games.
