from ANTARA, The Indonesian National News Agency Jakarta, Oct. 14 (ANTARA) - As the death toll and material losses from the West Sumatra quake continue to rise and tsunami-caused damage in Aceh has not entirely been repaired, the Taiwanese government has decided to increase its donations for immediate relief in West Sumatra and long-term development in Aceh.
For relief aid for the earthquake victims in West Sumatra, Taiwan increased the amount of its assistance from US$ 150,000 to US$ 200,000.
Initially, the Taiwanese government had provided US$150,000 but later it gave US$50,000 more to help the quake victims. In addition, the Taiwan Red Cross had also donated US$200,000, reliable sources at the Taiwanese representative office in Jakarta here said on Wednesday.
