The nation's largest chain of auto parts stores is coming to Sacramento.

AutoZone of Memphis, Tenn., a public company with almost 2,000 locations in 38 states, reportedly is buying several sites in the area.

The firm wouldn't disclose details, saying that it doesn't comment on locations if they are still in escrow. But sources said the company is buying 1.5 acres on Stockton Boulevard northeast of Fruitridge Road and possibly another site in Woodland.

AutoZone did confirm that its real estate and research departments have been evaluating the Sacramento market and definitely are interested in this area.

"We're there to find places for stores," said spokesman Eric Epperson.
