WorldCom has announced a companywide reorganization plan that will see two of its recent acquisitions -- the networking division of America Online and CompuServe -- melded into a new group called WorldCom Advanced Networks.

The reorganization will also see the company's Internet services backbone division, currently known as UUNet Technologies, renamed UUNet WorldCom, while the WorldCom name will be used for the company's voice services.

Although WorldCom, UUNet WorldCom, and WorldCom Advanced Networks will exist as separate entities, the idea will be to offer integrated services -- including voice, data, and Internet connectivity -- from all three divisions, said …
