Patrick J. O'Meara has edited and translated Volume XXXVII of Sergei M. Soloviev's History of Russia. Empress Elizabeth's Reign, 1741-1744 (as before, 1996; pp. xxiii + 250. N.p.). Soloviev (1820-79) commenced writing his great History of Russia in 1851; the first complete edition was published between 1893 and 1895. This volume appears as part of the complete translation of the History into English for the first time; we therefore now have access to two Russian works on Elizabeth which were written over a hundred years apart.
