Kenya: Kenya and World Bank to investigate corruption in bank-funded projects.

Section: General News - The World Bank is suspending disbursements to two of the 25 projects supported by Bank financing in Kenya, pending thorough investigations into allegations of fraud and corruption. The projects concerned are the Kenya Education Sector Support Programme (KESSP) and the Western Kenya Community Driven Development and Flood Mitigation Project (WKCDD).

The decision follows an announcement Wednesday by the Government of Kenya that it had frozen the accounts of the two projects due to what an official press statement said appears to be fraud and corruption.
