Hostels around Makerere University have registered tremendous losses following the 40 per cent rise in tuition fees, a Daily Monitor survey has revealed.
Many students have opted not to rent the hostels as a way of coping with the rising cost of education. As a result, most hostels have failed to realise 100 percent occupancy a month into the new semester.
In Makerere University International Students Hostel (MISH), the quadruple rooms have turned into single rooms.
