Montrail plans to stride into Europe with its line of sturdy trail shoes and hiking boots

Menno van Wyk is breaking trail for his boot manufacturing company, Montrail.

The niche brand, formerly known as One Sport, is preparing to peddle its revamped line of trail shoes, hiking boots and mountaineering boots in Europe for the first time.

Chief executive van Wyk is ready to pounce on the European market after stringing together five years of climbing sales, despite being kept off the Continent over a brand name dispute.

Now that van Wyk has settled a trademark challenge brought by a tiny European company called One Sport, his newly dubbed Montrail has identified overseas sales as one of many avenues of growth.
