Waste Connections of Roseville connects to $24 million

Waste Connections Inc. of Roseville, a company that came out of nowhere just eight months ago, raised $24 million last Friday when it went public.

"We want to be the big fish in the small pond," said Steven Bouck, chief financial officer.

Waste Connections is trying to buy up independent waste hauling companies in small towns across the West. Half a dozen companies are doing the same thing in the East, but Waste Connections believes it has a leg up out here.

The Roseville company owns seven waste' collection companies in California, Washington, Idaho and Wyoming. It also operates three transfer stations, …
