The already small number of women CEOs in the Valley soon will be reduced by one after word this week that Kathy Munro has decided to leave Bank of America Southwest.
Munro said she will retire Oct. 1 as chief executive of the bank's Southwest region. BofA is the second largest bank in Arizona. She was not offered the type of strategic, inner-circle position she currently has with the bank, in a round of key appointments announced May 26 for the new BankAmerica Corp.
Under the previous organization, Phoenix was the headquarters for Bank of America in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas.
Under the new structure, part of the BankAmerica-NationsBank Corp. merger, Phoenix will be in the Southwest/Midwest region, based in Dallas. The Phoenix office will oversee operations in Arizona and Nevada. …
