Entrepreneurial zeal and a mean Rolodex.

That's the foundation of Washington's newest PR shop, Garrett Yu Hussein, which was started by four former Fleishman-Hillard employees.

It took only two weeks for Pattie Yu Hussein, Peter Garrett, Patrick McCabe and Sharon Reis to decide to leave Fleishman's D.C. office to form their own practice.

Once the decision was made, the four didn't conceal it from their employer. Fleishman was notified April 27.

"We thought, if we want to do this, we want to feel good about how we do it," said Garrett, adding their former firm has been supportive about their decision to go out on their own.
