Nicosia, 10 September: The second round of extensive talks, aimed at finding a lasting solution to the Cyprus issue began Thursday in Lefkosa [Nicosia].

Turkish Cypriot President Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias met at the buffer zone in Lefkosa [Nicosia] to discuss "federal administration", a topic over which no progress towards agreement was recorded in the first round.

On his way to the meeting, Talat told reporters that he was hopeful, second round of talks would be more fruitful.
