Section: Government and Politics - This year's annual reshuffle of Finance Ministry senior executives is the first in years where performance, rather than political influence, has been the main criterion, said Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij, the Bangkok Post reports.
Political interference and cronyism had hobbled the ministry for too many years, Mr Korn said, taking a swipe at his predecessors during the Thaksin Shinawatra governments.
"The signal that I want to communicate clearly with this reshuffle is that promotions must be based on performance. There must not be political interference in the process," he said.
