Outspoken NRM MP's have drawn first blood by accusing their party Chairman, President Museveni of fighting corruption "selectively" and "baby-sitting" corrupt bush war friends.

"Selective application of the law will divide our country and [it] is the main reason why we have failed to defeat corruption. We cannot protect corrupt historicals because they fought. Irrespective of their contribution to the liberation war, those who are wrong must face the law," Northern Youth MP Dennis Obua said.

The lawmakers, who spoke to this newspaper on Thursday, were responding to President Museveni's speech made last week at the wedding ceremony of Trade Minister Kahinda Otafiire's son, Francis Otafiire.

The President at the function had keenly spoken about how he personally protected some of the bush war associates even when they were accused of wrongdoing. He particularly singled out Gen. Otafiire and Security Minister Amama Mbabazi as some of those he had protected.
