Al-Fashir, Sept. 1 (SUNA): The new Force Commander of the African Union-United Nations hybrid operation in Darfur (UNAMID), Lt Gen Patrick Nyamvumba, of Rwanda has assumed his office.

Gen Nyamvumba succeeded Gen the Nigerian Martin Luther Agwai, who served as UNAMID Force Commander since the establishment of the mission in 2008. The new UNAMID Commander, who arrived in Darfur on the August 24, paid a series of field visits to got acquainted with the components of the hybrid operations of the peace-keeping troops and the civil workforce.
