WEATHER experts today predicted gales and rain would batter the North-east this week.
Tropical Storm Danny has been wreaking havoc over the east coast of America.
Now the weather system is forecast to blow across the Atlantic bringing wind and rain to the North-east.
Met Office forecaster Dave Clark said the storm was due to arrive on Thursday.
'Much of the day will be fine,' he said.
'But by the time it gets to the evening the rain and wind will hit.
Mr Clark said that at the weekend Tropical Storm Danny was just off the Carolina coast.
