Vat Service Introduces Electronic Cash Register.

The Value-Added Tax (VAT) Service is introducing an Electronic Cash Register (ECR) for use by retail businesses under the VAT Flat Rate Scheme (VFRS).

The device is expected to make it easier for businesses to charge VAT/NHIL and to avoid manual calculations of the 3% VAT Flat Rate, as well as, completion of the monthly return form (VAT 20).

A statement signed by Anthony Ewereko Minlah, Commissioner, said the ECR will be operated on a pilot basis for three months from September 1 to November 30, 2009 for some selected businesses in Accra - Okaishie, Adabraka, Tudu, Kokomlemle, …
