Thailand: FDA to classify braces as medical equipment.

Section: General News - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is preparing to classify the use of braces in orthodontics as medical equipments after a teenage girl died after wearing fake braces for fashion purposes.

FDA Deputy Secretary-General, MD Pongpan Wongmanee, stated that the FDA had found many kinds of contaminating chemicals in fake braces such as lead, antimony, selenium and arsenic.
