x PAVE Romans walked on this amazing pavement which was found in Brantingham in the early 1960s.

It was discovered at the Brantingham Roman Villa adjoining the Roman road from Brough to York and archaeologists believed it dated back to the 4th Century.

The room in which the pavement had been contained was 25ft by 38ft, but the walls had been dismantled, probably during medieval times, and the stone used for building elsewhere.
