Consolidation project to total more than 400,000 square feet

ABB Lummus Global is reportedly making plans to consolidate local offices and may add as many as 200 people to the company's Houston-area workforce of 1,000 - all under a roof that has yet to be built.

Sources close to the deal say the international engineering and construction firm is negotiating with The Staubach Co. to construct a build-to-suit project in west Houston totaling more than 400,000 square feet.

In addition, a speculative building about half the size of the new ABB quarters would be constructed for future expansion by the company.
