County schools getting greener for the start of classes: District also asking for public's help in effort.

Aug. 12--Palm Beach County students will start school on Tuesday in greener surroundings. Environmentally friendly recycling programs and cleaning supplies are in abundance for campuses new and old, school district administrators say. Being conservation-minded last year saved an estimated 93,000 trees, reduced landfill dependence, cut utility costs by $2 million, and created healthier learning environments, according to officials. "We want to be examples for our students to follow and being good stewards of our environment is just one way we can do that," said Facilities Management Chief Joseph Sanches.
