THE sky over a part of Tyneside was filled with dragons, lizards and a giant crab at the weekend.
The Whitley Bay International Kite Festival saw people travel from all over the country to marvel at the huge flying works of art.
The two-day festival was attended by thousands of people.
Among the designs which wowed the crowds were Chinese dragons over 100 metres in length, giant lizards and colossal clowns.
The skyline above the seaside town was aflutter with kites being flown by both professionals and amateur enthusiasts.
