Pub Idol's oldest contestant hopes to give his rivals a run for their money - by taking to the stage at the grand old age of 84.

Proving age is a state of mind, pensioner and former club crooner Chris Bunce wants to show the crowds you're never too old to sing your heart out.

He has joined 80 solo artists and duos in this year's search for a star worthy of the Pub Idol crown, and says he is looking forward to the challenge.

Young-at-heart Chris, of Cleethorpes' Newstead Road, said: "I've always loved singing, ever since I was a boy.
