Applied Innovation bets big on dial-up Internet access. (Applied Innovation Inc)

Gerry Moersdorf is betting that most people will continue to use dial-up connections to the Internet in the years to come - not cable moderns, satellites or other high-bandwidth access methods.

Moersdorf is chairman, president and CEO of Applied Innovation Inc., which sells switches to Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs) and other large carriers. These switches help a carrier's diverse equipment systems communicate with each other and aid in administration and customer service.

Applied Innovation's core business grew to $47 million last year and Moersdorf projects it will hit $100 million in the next three to five years. He said the global market is practically untapped.

Last week, the Dublin-based company said it is seeking a partner to expand development of its Internet access product line.
