ILOILO CITY - A pioneering effort in the disposal of plastic waste is being implemented by the Iloilo City government in partnership with a cement manufacturer. Their aim is to convert the city's dump site into a sanitary landfill.

The Alternative Fuel Resources (AFR), which was first used in Iloilo City in September 2008 with the aim of gathering plastic wastes to be used as fuel in cement production has been extended with the signing of a new memorandum of agreement (MoA) between the Iloilo City General Services Office (GSO), Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) in Western Visayas and Holcim Cement, Inc. earlier this month.
