KOLKATA, 30 JULY: The state school education minister, Mr Partha De, today said the recruitment procedure of teachers in schools might take a hit once the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Bill 2008 is passed by the Parliament.

The Bill which envisages at providing free and compulsory education to children in the age group of six to fourteen, was passed at the Rajya Sabha recently.

The Bill specifies that qualifications for appointment and terms and conditions of service of teachers would be decided by the Centre, which means the recruitment norms would be framed by the Centre. Once the Bill is implemented, …
