QUESTION: After reading the test drive on the Prius (CBT, July 12), I wonder if it is worthwhile to buy hybrid cars in Malaysia where the car price is high and petrol price lower in comparison.

Please help me on the following questions: 1. What is the price of the nickle-metal hydride battery? 2. For an average annual mileage of between 25,000 and 30,000km, is the saving on the petrol enough to cover the price of the battery replacement? Assuming that the battery life time is 10 years as mentioned in the test drive.

3. What type of maintenance and/or part replacement for the electric motor is available? 4. Can CBT compare the Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid? …
