Kenya's President Kibaki on Friday [24 July] declared that the disputed Migingo Island belongs to Kenya.

The declaration came as Ugandan surveyors, who had been working jointly with their Kenyan counterparts to determine the ownership of the rocky patch, abandoned the mission.
