RAIGANJ, 13 JULY: The National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) has been badly affected in various rural belts of North Dinajpur district because numerous beneficiaries have failed to open bank accounts. Because of this, the district administration has stopped the work, leading to the suffering of a section of job card holders.

The government recently decided to pay the labourers through bank accounts, making this method of payment mandatory.
