Experts to test food workers, consumers on labeling

A group of experts will hold an examination in November to test consumers and those in the food business about food-labeling as part of efforts to boost understanding and knowledge of the issue.

Food labeling is regulated under several laws, including the Food Sanitation Law, which aims to prevent hygiene problems such as food poisoning; the Japan Agricultural Standards Law, which covers label content, and a law against unjustifiable premiums and misleading representations.
